In 1994 and for a few years after I was a well dressed cat. Maybe I wore my gear one or two sizes too big but I repped some serious labels. Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Polo, Izod, DKNY and Eddie Bauer were all in my closet. Helly Hansen and North Face would be on my back when I wanted something tech. For a 16 year old this took some serious saving or some racking or some buying stuff off dudes that would rack shit but I was rocking some high end labels.

You can thank Grand Puba for putting Hilfiger on the map and Method Man for making Helly Hansen hip hop and the rest somehow fell into place. All of us hip hop kids were too cheap too coat check our gear at the underage jams but we would be holding 400 dollar coats in our arms.
And now its back, kids off all ages are rocking some serious name brands and what is dope is that shit they are wearing is fitted. Top button all buttoned up, slim clean cut pants, nice dress shoes or work boots. Thanks to the internet the consumer is way more educated and gear is that much more accessible. Its crazy to me seeing young kids having 1000 dollar wardrobes on.
If we all talk about fashion and how it goes in cycles and repeats itself than these fine dressed chaps are going to be rocking T shirts again. I guess then I ll be looking at the vintage stores for some Gitman Brothers shirts, Olch ties and some Brooks Brothers slacks.
