It is tomorrow and I am getting excited.  I am playing on the EA team this year.  I don't work for EA but I have done some marketing projects together so I guess that counts.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND PARTY FOR JAYME

I had the privilege to attend my friend's daughter's Alice In Wonderland party.  We had to dress up and I thought our Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb costume was solid, until the next set of Tweedles (complete with a pin wheel hat) came in and made us look bad, and then the third set of Tweedles arrived, which were even better because the fact they were actually twins (and had pillows stuffed in their bellys to look fat).  Oh well, we were the third best Tweedles there.

Here is some photos from Ryan from Arcade Original for you to enjoy.

Take Ivy is being re issued and in English.  For those who don't know about this book it is an amazing reference for any fashionista.  This book has amazing photographs of the american elite from Ivy League schools.   The book was originally published in 1965 in Japan and finding a copy is very difficult and could cost you up and around 1000 dollars.  However, Take Ivy is now being re issued in English, pre order is available now for 25 bucks so get your ass on it.  Don't sleep on this one.

Tobias Wong, the Vancouver born, New York based artist best known for his gold pills, and his sun jar  just passed away on May 31, 2010.   Tobias was one of the more popular artists that came out of Emily Carr, and I remember seeing these gold pills at Colette and was stoked to see someone from Vancouver making it big.   The concept behind the pills were that you would swallow them and then your shit would have gold flakes in them.  Strange to me, but it gets props for originality.

His death was ruled as a suicide.  It is sad to see such a loss to the Canadian and international design community.

The drummer is often overlooked.  I think GnRs drum was Steve Adler and I thought it was super cool that the drummer from Def Leppard only had one arm and yet I still don't know his name.

Well that stereotype has now been broken.  The drummer from the Black Keys has formed a group with a bunch of other drumstick wielding compadres called Drummer.  Drummer consists of Patrick Carney on bass (Black Keys), Jamie Stillman on guitar (Teeth of Stillman), John Finley on vocals and guitar (Beaten Awake), Greg Boyd on drums (Sandman) and Stephen Clements (Houseguests / Six Parts Seven).

Check this single out and go look for the album Feel Good Together.

I have been hooked on "How To Make It In America" lately.  The show is dope, it reminds me of the early seasons of Finale except we didn't girls.

Similar things
- I remember having our T shirts in the car and being made stressed when I was in the office and the car was outside with hundreds of tees in the back seat.
- We had a big order of tees for Japan and they wanted hoodies after.
- Finale was a two man team.  One dude designs and the other just has stupid ideas.
- Kid Cudi would hang with us.  Ok, that is not true but I wanted a fourth point so it looked like there were a lot of similarities.

For those who have seen all eight episodes and notice the last two were not as hype as the first five.   There maybe is a reason, the last three had a different director.

In 1994 and for a few years after I was a well dressed cat. Maybe I wore my gear one or two sizes too big but I repped some serious labels. Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Polo, Izod, DKNY and Eddie Bauer were all in my closet. Helly Hansen and North Face would be on my back when I wanted something tech. For a 16 year old this took some serious saving or some racking or some buying stuff off dudes that would rack shit but I was rocking some high end labels.

What would I do without the internet. Before the internet became popular and readily accessible small companies would have to mail out or fax line sheets or hire a sales person. Small "basement" brand like Finale could never have been established or have ever achieved anything than as Queen Latifa says in the movie Juice "local".

So the internet is the key way for reaching out to stores, media, customers and all sorts of people in industry. I'm not emailing like Mark Cuban or running social media marketing strategies like Obama but I spend much of my day sitting behind a computer. It has been proven that blogging can be a key way for growing your business and engaging your customer so here is the start.
